Mini celle fotovoltaiche glitter
Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories have developed a system of photovoltaic cells small as glitter, and then immediately calls "glitter cells" which could turn a person into a sort of solar battery charger, if they were applied glitter on her clothes. These cells have a diameter ranging from 14 to 20 microns (ten times smaller than traditional ones), but provide the same efficiency and, above all, greater flexibility. So much so that in the laboratories of Sandia is planning to apply them in clothing. The American military industry has already done a little thought (imagine a soldier who simply according to the Sun, also charged each communication device in this area). But also other less belligerent, like sportswear brands, have had the vision of hikers with a "solar curtains" and similar clothing. And research recently published by ScienceDaily allows anyone to be optimistic, because, having a diameter so thin, these cells can be fabricated glitter, with less cost, on an industrial scale, and produced wafers of any size: each cell, in fact, would be applied on silicon wafers and then be composed with hexagonal circuits elettrici stampati su ogni pezzo. E in questo modo, fra l'altro, se una cella risultasse difettosa, potrebbe essere isolata dal resto dell'applicazione.
